Three strategic objectives, related to measurable performance in- dicators, were elaborated: Clarification Industrial Status by 2035 Examples of investment opportunities in support of the strategic objective Become an integrating regional manufactur- ing hub •Taking advantage of the strengths of the Saudi economy such as (pur- chasing power, capital availabil- ity, natural resources) to support industry and stimulate economic integration through partnerships and mutual interests. •Regional integration achieves addi- tional competitive advantages that support all parties in advancing the region as a new regional economic force. • Taking advantage of the size of the local and regional markets through an economic integration model in value chains and asso- ciated products to create com- petitiveness constitutes a region- al industrial base that contributes to the region›s transformation into a major and competitive industrial center •Leveraging regional high de- mand for machinery and equip- ment manufacturing serving high growth sectors. • Providing maintenance, re- pair and overhauling service centres to regional airlines in Ri- yadh, Neom and Jeddah. • Coordinating regional efforts to consolidate commercial sat- ellite demand. Build industrial nation- al resilience • Saudi industry is seeking resilience to supply chain dis- ruptions that may occur as a re- sult of unexpected conditions (such as the COVID-19 pan- demic), or due to geopolitical divisions in selected products. Increasing national industrial resilience through increased domestic manufacturing and reduced risks of supply chain disruptions by entering into strategic agreements to ensure continuous access to signifi- cant goods to ensure citizens› well-being and sustained eco- nomic activity. • Taking advantage of domes- tic demand and localizing biopharmacuitcal industries (e.g. vaccines and plasma). • Leveraging the kingdom’s purchasing power to stimu- late localization (such as arms, guided munitions and rocket launchers). • Expanding local processing and manufacturing capabilities in poultry and diary products to enter a diverse manufactur- ing range such as the cheese industry. Expand global leadership in select segments • The Kingdom benefits from the capabilities of the Public Investment Fund and leading national companies to build an industrial base and possess qualitative technologies to en- ter global value chains, thereby increasing technical capabilities and transferring knowledge. • Building on the strengths of selected groups of goods in which the Kingdom en- joys comparative, econom- ic and strategic advantage to achieve global leadership by guiding and allocating qual- itative investments. • Investing in promising new technologies for the King- dom to take a global lead in these goods. • Global leadership in man- facturing desalination tech- nology. • Global leadership in man- facturing advanced material in automotive and aerospace industry, construction tech- niques. • Global leadership in envi- ronment- friendly vehicle manufacturing technolo- gies.
